About the Role: As a Shift Supervisor at KFC, you will play a pivotal role in the effective supervision of team members, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and the highest standards in product quality, administration, hygiene, maintenance, customer service, and employee relations. This role involves providing support to the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) and stepping in when required to ensure the seamless operation of the restaurant.

Key Responsibilities:

CHAMPS Standards: Collaborate with the Restaurant General Manager (RGM) to achieve and uphold CHAMPS standards (Cleanliness, Hospitality, Accuracy, Maintenance, Product, and Speed of Service) within the restaurant. Ensure all team members are dedicated to exceeding customer expectations.

Shift Management: Manage shifts in line with company policies and procedures, directing team activities to maximize sales, operating efficiency, and profitability. Allocate responsibilities to each team member, monitoring their performance throughout the shift.

Maintenance: Ensure correct maintenance procedures are followed, reporting any repairs or maintenance requirements to the RGM promptly. Uphold a well-maintained and hygienic restaurant environment.

Safety and Security: Implement controls and procedures to safeguard the safety and security of employees, customers, property, and company funds during all shifts under supervision. Report any concerns to the RGM/RM.

Employee Relations: Report aspects of employee relations, customer service, and health inspection issues to the RGM/RM that may impact the restaurant’s operation. Assist in implementing training programs for staff to enhance performance and career development.

Culture and Leadership: Support and demonstrate all company culture initiatives and principles, acting as a role model and providing leadership as necessary. Foster a positive team culture within the restaurant.

Skills and Competencies:

Language: Excellent command of the English language, strong communication skills. Numerical: Strong numeracy skills and a basic understanding of financial information. Computer Literacy: Intermediate MS Office skills (Teams, Excel, Word).

Cognitive Competencies:

Guest Orientation: Focus on achieving service standards that comply with the highest expectations of clients. Coaching: Develop followers by providing clear instructions, demonstrations, and explanations. Expose team members to planned but increasingly challenging tasks. Delegate and Follow-up: Capacity to delegate specific tasks, implement follow-up control actions, and coaching actions where necessary.

Excellence Orientation: Focus on achieving service standards that comply with the highest expectations of clients. Positive Teamwork: Encourage positive teamwork as per all brand culture initiatives and principles. Training and Induction: Assist in ensuring all staff receives a comprehensive induction and is fully trained on safety aspects.

Customer Focus:

Customer Mania: Drive CUSTOMER MANIA by role modeling and teaching team members to comply with standards. Complaint Handling: Handle customer complaints effectively, ensuring customer satisfaction and retention. Sales and Profit: Achieve required Compliance standards, communicate sales targets, and enhance sales through coaching and support.

Profit and Sales:

Profitability Goals: Effectively communicate profitability goals and BSC (balance score card) results to team members. Financial Management: Adhere to cash handling and restaurant banking procedures. Monitor cost of sales, labor costs, and controllable expenses to ensure they align with targets.

Minimum Requirements:

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Supervisory level experience (minimum of 2 years); fast-food industry experience is advantageous. Ability to work shifts, public holidays, and weekends. Reliable, honest, and hardworking with contactable references. Valid South African ID. Must be contactable 24/7 via a reliable cell phone. No criminal record.
